1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Life Threads ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand) and its Information Privacy Principles.

By using our website or purchasing a Reading, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information:

  • Contact details: Your name and email address, provided at checkout or during questionnaire completion.
  • Questionnaire responses: Your answers to our life path questionnaire, which may include sensitive personal information about your life experiences, relationships, goals, challenges, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Payment information: Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We may receive limited transaction information such as the last four digits of your card and payment status.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, collected automatically via standard server logs and analytics tools.

3. Why We Collect Your Information

We collect and use personal information for the following purposes:

  • To generate and deliver your personalised Reading to your email inbox.
  • To process your payment and send order confirmation.
  • To respond to your questions, complaints, or refund requests.
  • To improve the quality of our service and website.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We will not use your information for any purpose that is incompatible with those listed above without first obtaining your consent.

4. Sensitive Information

Your questionnaire responses may contain sensitive personal information, including details about your health, relationships, and personal history. We treat this information with the highest degree of care. It is used solely to generate your Reading and is not shared with any third party for marketing or analytical purposes.

5. How We Store and Protect Your Information

Your personal information is stored on secure servers using industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase for data storage, which employs encryption at rest and in transit, and access controls to prevent unauthorised access.

We take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain your information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Questionnaire data and your Reading are retained for up to 2 years to allow us to re-send Readings if requested.

6. Disclosure to Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share it only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Stripe: Our payment processor. Stripe's privacy policy governs the data you provide during checkout. See stripe.com/privacy.
  • Email delivery providers: We use a third-party transactional email service to deliver your Reading and order confirmation to your inbox.
  • AI service providers: Your anonymised or pseudonymised questionnaire responses may be processed by an AI service provider solely to generate your Reading. These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Life Threads or others.

Some of these third parties may be located outside New Zealand. Where this is the case, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives a comparable level of protection.

7. Your Rights Under the Privacy Act 2020

Under the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand), you have the right to:

  • Correct any personal information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, or misleading.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records.
